Peak Oil, why we need to plan now.

Hi,Long article but worth the read. For Transition Bermuda - I think it would be a useful exercise to produce a 5 to 10 step plan for Bermuda to prepare for now. Keep it simple.http://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/Peak-Oil-Why-We-need-to-Plan-Now.htmlSee More

WELCOME

Welcome to Transition Bermuda's Website! Transition Bermuda was founded on the philosophy of the Transition Towns movement which has been adopted by communities around the world in order to address the twin challenges of Peak Oil and Climate Change.

How Do We Propose To Do This
Through awareness raising around peak oil and climate change and by focusing our initiatives on community led process to rebuild resilience within our small island community.

How to Use the Website
The idea of the website (the Ning) is to share ideas, documents, links and comments with one another in an on-line environment in order to help communicate, organize and track things a little more effectively.

If you are not familiar with how the Ning works it is just like Facebook except we have total control over what we do on the site. Do I hear a ......Yes I ?

The easiest way to navigate through the site is to click on the Tabs above (the row of titles just below the main banner) to open up the relevant tools you want to use. These are like other tools you would have used elsewhere on the Web. There's Blogs, Discussion Forums, Workspaces(where you can create and edit documents etc.) and areas for uploading photos and videos.

To join a group simply click on the Group you want to join in the column on the left. There are no restrictions on who can join this process simply helps us manage the Ning a little better!

Although using the Ning is a new learning experience for all of us, the one request I have is that you all try and keep whatever contribution you make, relevant to the topic of the original post, whether it be a discussion, blog etc.

Like all new technology, the more you use it the more familiar you become with it and the more you will get from it. Enjoy!

An Introduction to Permaculture - Presentation

Three local certified permaculturists Myles Darrell, Abayomi Carmichael and Steve Sainsbury gave a great 'Introduction to Permaculture' presentation at the Botanical Gardens in August. Around 18 people turned out to listen and ask questions of the local experts and to learn a bit more about what Permaculture is all about. The presentations were videoed which we hope to upload to the site for those of you couldn't make it to watch. We are now in the process of inquiring about Permaculture certification training for all of you who may be interested. Stay Tuned.

Here's Abayomi's presentation;

Permaculture Article in RG Green Pages

Hello,

Recently, Aran asked me if I would be willing to write something for his spot in the Green Pages on the subject of permaculture. This past Thursday (2nd Sept. 2010) the following article appeared in the newspaper.

I noticed that the title and the editing were different than originally anticipated, and without any judgment, I would like to post my original article here. I invite you to respond and add comments, questions and contributions if you…

Aran and I attended the recent Coalition for Community Activism in Bermuda meeting and presented the shortened combined version of the presentations we did for you all. If any of you would like to attend, I think it will be… Continue
